A delicious fall-inspired pie combining tart cranberries and sweet apples with a buttery crumble topping.

Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • 1 piece Unbaked Flaky Pie Crust or All-Butter Pie Crust (prepared for 9-inch pie)
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for egg wash)

Filling

  • 6 cups Apple slices (about 5 large peeled and cored apples)
  • 1 1/4 cups Fresh or frozen cranberries (do not thaw)
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg

Crumble Topping

  • 5 tablespoons Unsalted butter (very cold and cubed)
  • 1/2 cup Old-fashioned rolled oats

Instructions 

  • Prepare the pie crust and chill it.
  • Mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cut in cold butter until crumbly; stir in oats and refrigerate.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Roll out chilled dough, fit into pie dish, and refrigerate.
  • Combine apples, cranberries, sugar, flour, zest, and spices; fill pie crust and sprinkle crumble topping. Brush edges with egg wash.
  • Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, then reduce to 375°F and bake 35-40 minutes until bubbling. Cool before serving.

Notes

Let the pie cool for at least 3 hours before slicing for best results.
