Delight in these rich, nutty cookies with a caramelized butter flavor, topped with a sweet maple glaze and toasted pecans.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for browning)
  • ½ cup confectioners sugar
  • ½ tsp fine sea salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2-3 tablespoons cream or half and half (add as needed)
  • ½ cup pecans, toasted and finely chopped (plus some for sprinkling)
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon maple extract
  • teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2-3 tablespoons water (as needed for glaze)

Instructions

  • Cook butter over medium-low heat until deep golden brown and nutty, about 5-7 minutes. Cool to lukewarm, then chill until solid but scoopable, about 1-2 hours.
  • Beat browned butter, confectioners' sugar, and salt until combined. Mix in flour and chopped pecans; add cream if dough is dry. Form into a disc, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out dough, cut into rounds, and chill for 20 minutes. Bake until edges are lightly browned, about 15-17 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Whisk together confectioners' sugar, maple syrup, and maple extract to make glaze. Dip cookies halfway into glaze, then sprinkle with chopped pecans. Let set before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough thoroughly for best results and ensure cookies are cooled before glazing.
