A hearty and cheesy baked pasta dish featuring tender chicken, marinara, and melty cheeses, perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

Pasta and Chicken

  • 1 lb ziti pasta, cooked (reserve 1/2 cup pasta water)
  • 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper chili flakes (optional)
  • 32 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan
  • 1 bunch basil, chiffonade

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Cook ziti pasta, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.
  • Cook chicken in olive oil with seasonings until done. Add marinara and reserved pasta water, simmer.
  • Combine sauce with cooked pasta, ricotta, and basil. Transfer to a baking dish.
  • Top with mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then broil until bubbly and browned.
  • Garnish with basil and serve with extra red sauce if desired.

Notes

Spray foil with non-stick spray to prevent cheese from sticking during baking.
