A delicious combination of tender chicken, flavorful marinara, and melted cheese served over pasta for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz penne pasta (Cook according to package instructions.)

Chicken

  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.)

Sauces and Cheese

  • 1 cup marinara sauce (Can be homemade or store-bought.)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (Use fresh for better melting.)
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese (Use fresh for better flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper salt and pepper (For seasoning.)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (For cooking the chicken.)

Optional Garnish

  • optional fresh basil fresh basil (For garnish.)

Instructions 

  • Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook chicken until golden and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Slice into strips.
  • In the same skillet, add marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes. Add cooked pasta and chicken, stirring to combine.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Cover and cook until cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

For a healthier option, use whole wheat pasta and low-fat cheese.
