(do not thaw if frozen)

Instructions
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest. Cut in cold butter until pea-sized.
Create a well, add buttermilk, orange juice, and egg. Gently combine, then fold in cranberries.
Knead dough briefly on a floured surface. Shape into an 8-10 inch disc, chill for 5-10 minutes.
Cut into 8 wedges, place on a lined baking sheet, freeze for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sugar if desired, then bake for 20-26 minutes until golden. Cool before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of coarse sugar on top before baking.
