A flavorful bowl combining spicy, sweet ground beef with rice and fresh vegetables for a quick, satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 pound pounds lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
  • Hot honey to taste hot honey
  • 1 medium yellow or white onion, minced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 tablespoon non-alcoholic rice cooking beverage (or substitute)

Base

  • Fluffy white rice (jasmine or basmati) or other base cooked rice or grain

Vegetables

  • Steamed broccoli florets, sautéed bell peppers, or roasted asparagus cooked vegetables

Garnishes

  • Fresh scallions, sliced thin scallions
  • Toasted sesame seeds sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro cilantro

Instructions 

  • Cook rice according to package instructions.
  • Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, then drain excess fat.
  • Sauté onion for 3-5 minutes, then add garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
  • Mix hot honey, soy sauce, and rice beverage in a bowl. Pour over beef and simmer 2-3 minutes.
  • Assemble bowls with rice, beef, vegetables, and garnish with scallions, sesame seeds, and cilantro.

Feel free to customize vegetables and spice level to taste.
