A hearty and comforting casserole featuring layers of ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for a family meal.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef

Vegetables

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

Dairy

  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon dried italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water
  • 0.25 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • to taste fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet, add ground beef, and cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
  • Add onion and garlic, cooking until soft (3-4 minutes).
  • Layer potatoes on beef, season, and top with cheeses. Pour broth around edges.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
  • Garnish with parsley if desired and serve hot!

Notes

For extra creaminess, add the optional milk.
