These soft and chewy maple snickerdoodles are infused with rich maple flavor and coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2⅓ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened slightly but still cool to the touch)
  • cup light brown sugar
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon maple extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Mix flour, cornstarch, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cream of tartar. Set aside.
  • Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light. Add syrup, egg, and maple extract; beat well. Mix in dry ingredients.
  • Combine sugar and cinnamon for coating. Scoop dough, roll in cinnamon sugar, and place on baking sheets.
  • Bake for 11-13 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft. Cool on wire racks.

Notes

For best results, do not flatten the dough balls to keep cookies thick and chewy.
