Ingredients

Meat and Vegetables

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium white onion (diced)
  • 5 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 2 15 ounce cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or cheddar)

Instructions 

  • Cook ground beef and diced onion until browned, then drain excess fat.
  • Add garlic, chili powder, and paprika; toast for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in broth, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes; season and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add macaroni and cook until al dente, about 15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted. Serve warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the goulash sit for a few minutes before serving.
