A delicious and simple Korean-inspired dish that combines savory ground beef with sweet and tangy flavors, served over rice.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)

Condiments

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium if you prefer)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Aromatics

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger)

Grains

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or cauliflower)

Toppings

  • optional toppings: green onions, sesame seeds, shredded carrots, cucumber slices

Instructions 

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Let everything simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Serve hot over cooked rice and top with your favorite veggies, sesame seeds, or green onions.
