Ingredients

Bread

  • 12 cups dried bread pieces ((1" in size))
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 units onions ((chopped))
  • 1 cup celery ribs ((chopped))
  • 1 clove garlic ((minced))
  • 0.5 lb cremini or white mushrooms ((cleaned and sliced))
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley ((minced))
  • 2 tsp fresh rubbed sage
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary ((minced))
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • Melt butter and cook mushrooms, onions, garlic, and celery until tender.
  • Add broth, herbs, salt, and pepper; simmer for 1 minute.
  • Mix mushroom mixture with bread cubes, moistening as needed.
  • Transfer to greased baking dish and bake for 40-50 minutes until browned.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine or a pinch of thyme.
