A quick and hearty skillet dish combining ground beef, rice, garlic, and butter for a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)

Grains

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice

Dairy & Fats

  • 4 tablespoons butter (56g), real butter only

Produce

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 small onion, diced (120g)

Broth & Liquids

  • 2 cups beef broth (480ml), low sodium preferred

Seasonings & Garnishes

  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Dice onion, mince garlic, and measure rice and broth.
  • Cook ground beef in 1 tablespoon butter until browned, season with salt and pepper.
  • Push beef aside, sauté onions in remaining butter until translucent, add garlic, cook 1 min.
  • Add rice, toast 2 min, then pour in broth, bring to boil, cover, and simmer 20 min.
  • Remove from heat, let sit 5 min, fluff rice, adjust seasoning, and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or a sprinkle of cheese before serving.
