Cake Batter

2/3cupbutter (cut in small cubes)

1cupwhipping cream
1 1/4cupssifted all purpose flour
1 1/4cupssifted cake flour
1/2teaspoonbaking soda
2tspbaking powder
1teaspoonsalt
1/2cupbutter
1 1/2cupssugar
2tbspvanilla extract(good quality)
1/2cupvegetable oil
3largeeggs
1 1/4cupsmilk (or evaporated milk)(undiluted for extra richness)
Caramel Sauce
1/2cupcaramel sauce
3 1/2cupsicing sugar (powdered sugar)
2tspvanilla extract
a fewmilkadditional milk (for frosting adjustment)
Instructions
Prepare caramel sauce: boil sugar and water until amber, then add butter and cream, stirring until smooth. Cool completely.
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease pans and line with parchment. Mix dry ingredients; set aside.
Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy. Add oil, eggs, then fold in dry ingredients alternately with milk. Divide batter into pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pans 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks.
Prepare caramel frosting: beat butter, icing sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Layer cakes, fill with caramel, frost, and drizzle remaining caramel on top.
Notes
Use a large saucepan to prevent overflow when boiling caramel. Be cautious with hot sugar to avoid burns.
